Safe removal, roof sealing, and cleanup across Utah.
Swamp Cooler & Evaporative Cooler Removal in Utah
Many Utah homes switched from evaporative (swamp) coolers to central air. When you make that upgrade, the old unit on the roof has to go. We remove the cooler, seal the roof penetration properly, and leave the area clean so you don't get leaks or wasted space.
We handle removal and roof work in one trip when it makes sense: disconnect and remove the unit, patch or flash the opening so the roof is watertight, and clean up. That way you get a single contractor for both the removal and the roof repair.

Our removal process
We safely disconnect the cooler from power and water lines, then remove the unit, curb, and any exposed rooftop ductwork. The unit is disposed of or hauled away.
The roof penetration is patched with matching decking, properly flashed, and sealed with underlayment so it integrates with the surrounding roof system. This is the critical step for preventing future leaks.
We clean the work area, check surrounding roof details, and walk you through what was done. If we spot other issues (worn flashing, damaged shingles), we will let you know.
Why seal the roof after removal?
The hole where the cooler sat is a direct path for water and pests if it's not closed correctly. We patch or flash it to match your roof system so you don't get leaks or callbacks. If you're planning a full roof replacement soon, we can coordinate removal with that project so the opening is handled as part of the new roof.
Need a full roof replacement? We can bundle swamp cooler removal into that scope. For active leaks around an existing cooler, see our roof repair services.
Swamp Cooler Removal FAQ
How much does swamp cooler removal cost in Utah?
Swamp cooler removal typically costs $500–$1,500 depending on the size of the unit, roof access, and the complexity of sealing the penetration. If the roof needs additional repair or patching beyond the opening, that can add to the cost. We provide free estimates that cover removal, sealing, and cleanup.
Will removing a swamp cooler cause a roof leak?
Not if the penetration is sealed correctly. When we remove a swamp cooler, we patch the opening with matching decking, install proper flashing and underlayment, and integrate the patch into the surrounding roof system so it is watertight. This is the most important part of the job.
Can you remove a swamp cooler and replace the roof at the same time?
Yes, and this is often the most cost-effective approach. If your roof is near end of life, combining swamp cooler removal with a full roof replacement means the opening is handled as part of the new roof system rather than as a separate patch job.
What happens to the ductwork after swamp cooler removal?
We remove the cooler unit, the roof curb or pad, and any exposed ductwork on the roof. Interior ductwork removal (inside the attic or walls) is typically handled by an HVAC contractor. We can coordinate both trades if needed so the project runs smoothly.
